Does TrueNAS like hot-swap dive bays?

'Any advice on having a one or two hot-swap drive bays for the new NAS? I’m using a mid tower that fits a standard but not extended ATX main board. I’ve had good luck with dual xeon server boards for the server/hypervisor/workstations I’ve built. I’m thinking of starting with a xeon processor that is supported by Windows 11, xeon chips have lots of cores for the money, and server boards usually support ECC memory and they are most likely to have at least a pair of 2.5G and sometimes 10GB internet NICs.

I’ve always liked the idea of having a couple of hot-swap drive bays so that I can make backups on media that I can store in a fire safe or with a friend in his/her basement.

I’ve haven’t figured out if that is a useful practice, to have a hot-swap bay to keep history on removable media, say monthly?

What do you think? Does TrueNAS like hot-swap dive bays?

Why not? It doesn’t treat hot-swapping any different than other platforms.

You export the pool. You remove the drives from the bay.

I do this myself with a TerraMaster 4-bay case.
