Problem/Justification
Request support for Coral TPU M.2. TPU support is the basis of object detection in several apps most notably Frigate.
Impact
(How is this feature going to impact all TrueNAS users? What are the benefits and advantages? Are there disadvantages?)
Frigate and Photo app users will benefit from CPU and GPU offloading and a significantly reduced cost.
User Story
I utilize truenas as a home NAS which houses all photographs, I also utilize this as an NVR via frigate. Both photo cataloguing and object detection with Frigate benifit from TPU processors.
Possibly, it doesn’t specifically state the M.2 (as opposed to USB). I have been able to utilize the work around to install drivers, but every update wipes it out. I’m on 25.04.1, waiting on the update (instances is a mess). it would be nice to see this support built in.
Scrolled through the other feature request and it seems to be the same driver as someone in the other thread said it’s required for the m.2 module. So your request is a duplicate. Maybe close this one and add your vote to the existing 60 votes
