Email feature not working in Truenas core version 13.0-U6.2

Hi,

I have followed the steps from the below link:

to configure email address correctly for the root user.
Later from the system->email option, I tried to send a test mail. But it is throwing connection refused error as shown below.

Please let us know what might be the issue.

The email feature works.

Its probably the email server refusing the connection.

Need to check password and ports.

You should probably enable SMTP auth on your address

SMTP authentication is disabled for organizations created after January 2020, but can be enabled for individual mailboxes

Thanks for the reply. I tried to debug by using telnet in the shell, I see telnet is unable to connect.
Is it due to blocking from truenas or from SMTP server side? , how to fix this issue.

This is an issue from the provider’s side, not TrueNAS’s.

The issue was resolved and mail feature is working now.

The problem was that the network domain of our NAS and that of SMTP server were different.
Once SMTP and NAS network domain were put to same domain, now test mail feature works fine.
