Problem with empty app catalog when clicking on “Apps->Discover Apps->Refresh Catalog” regarding TrueNAS scale community version 25.04.2.4
Hi,
I am new to TrueNAS. I have tried multiple times to refresh the apps catalog with no success. It always has the message "Failed to clone ‘github-dot-com/truenas/apps’ repository at ‘/mnt/.ix-apps/truenas_catalog’. Anyone has any idea how to fix this?
Locally, TrueNAS works fine. I am able to copy and paste files from multiple computers with no issue. The issue comes when I would like to install Tailscale for out-of-network remote access. The apps catalog has no app listed.
I have tried the following:
a. Reinstall TrueNAS 25.04.2.4 several times with the same result, no apps catalog.
b. Ping tests from shell: all tests to multiple sites, including 8.8.8.8 and 1.1.1.1, came back with 0% loss. This suggests that the internet connection is ok.
c. Try to set the nameserver1/DNS sever to both 8.8.8.8 and 1.1.1.1, no luck.
d. When I tried to install TrueNAS 22.12.4.2, the apps catalog works, showing various apps. Any version after 22.12.4.2 resulted in no apps catalog.
Questions:
a. Have the apps repository move/delete/unavailable for some reason?
b. Is there away getting around this “no app catalog” issue?
I just want to install Tailscale for remote access. A step-by-step instructions on how to download and install Tailscale onto TrueNAS scale community version 25.04.2.4 is greatly appreciated.
