Failed 'up' action for 'nextcloud' app

I’ve been following the documented procedures to install Nextcloud and I can’t get past this error:

[EFAULT] Failed ‘up’ action for ‘nextcloud’ app. Please check /var/log/app_lifecycle.log for more details

In the log I see these errors:

Failed ‘up’ action for ‘nextcloud’ app: Network ix-nextcloud_default

…and…

dependency failed to start: container ix-nextcloud-nextcloud-1 is unhealthy

I feel like I’ve tried everything in the doc, except for using ixVolumes.

Is there a straightforward, bulletproof, step-by-step installation guide that just works?

I’m using the current versions of TrueNAS (25.04.01) and Nextcloud (2.0.9 / 31.0.6).

I’ve given up on running Nextcloud through Truenas. I banged my head against a wall for 3 weeks after updating to 2.0 and never being able to get it back runninng. I also couldn’t get Truenas to install a new instance so then I just spun up a separate debian server and installed the docker Nextcloud AIO. It handles updates through it’s own web interface including all the containers. It’s extra hassle for monitoring another server, but at least it works.

I find that really odd. I am still running Nextcloud on Core in a jail and in the beginning, it was quite cumbersome to set up but eventually, it works just fine. Now i am also running a test-server with Nextcloud on Scale as i realize that one day, i will be forced to switch. Up to now, i haven’t had a single issue. Not with installation nor with updates.

That’s because it’s in a jail on core, not the app which has issues now and then. If one rolls their own yaml and installs Nextcloud via yaml, I’ve never had a single issue in years.
