Problem/Justification
It’s not possible actually to passthrough host USB ports in a VM. You can passthrough a USB device but if this device is unpluged, the VM won’t start
Impact
It will be useful to pass through host USB ports for VM that need to use USB hard disk (external drive) for example. On Proxmox this is possible, VM start without any USB plugged into the ports that are passed through
User Story
The USB port passthrough will allow for example to use 2 USB ports for a VM and 2 or 3 other ports for another VM. USB controller PCIe passthrough is possible but limited to one VM at a time
being able to passthrough a particular USB socket to a VM is extremely useful as you can swap devices such as USB pen drives just as you would in a normal PC and you can also add a USB switch onto it if you want to add more devices.
I would use this to add a single USB to some of my VMs for easy access.
