I set up TrueNas Scale for my home NAS, loaded my drives up with data, woke up one day and now I am unable to access my SMB from my Windows 10 machine. NOTHING has changed, no other users, etc.
I have checked my username, full permissions, etc.
#1. How do I reconnect it (Windows is saying my login isn’t being accepted), or #2. How do I get my data OFF the 2 mirrored drives and I will move my data elsewhere.
LOL Yes I can log in to the web UI no problem, and my HP Proliant ML310e Gen8 V2 machine with my two 1TB drives is powered on.
On my Windows machine, which was able to connect perfectly prior, when I go to File Explorer, Network, I see TrueNAS, but it is unable to connect.
“Windows cannot access //truenas”
I need to go grab a monitor and plug it in and see what if anything is showing on the actual machine.
Originally it was saying the connection was being refused,
so this morning I did a power reset on my entire network, modem, router, everything, as if I had a power outage for a minute.
Now, In file explorer, under Network, TrueNas is showing, but windows is saying it isn’t there. Error 0x80070035
The Path isn’t valid, so I am able to access the GUI via the IP address (192.168.0.138) and I am instant in, all settings, SMB, shares, etc. are perfect, but not accessible though File Explorer.
All that matters to me is rock solid reliability. I have a second machine running Open Media Vault with a few files on it as a test machine, and nothing like this ever happened on that, and that drive, if the machine or OS or whatever fails, I can read the drive as it is in NTFS, so I always have access to my data no matter what.
At this point, I think I learned an anti ZFS lesson for my use case scenario.
My TrueNAS Scale is just two 1TB drives in an unencrypted mirror. Please tell me how I can read my data from these drives so I can transfer it to something else.
Haha, well all I can say is it was working 100% at night, I woke up the next morning, unable to access the network drive.
I am the only user, no one comes to my house, the machine is humming away nicely, no issues, I am instantly in via the web ui on the IP address, I just can’t access the windows SMB share over the network.
