How update plex media server from TrueNAS 12 to 13.0-U6.2

I have an old TrueNAS 12 system that I upgraded to TrueNAS 13, to be able to update the Plex Media Server plugin.

Current plugin is 1.23.2.4656 Release 12.2-RELEASE-p8
Collection: GitHub - freenas/iocage-ix-plugins: Official iXSystems iocage plugins for FreeNAS and TrueOS
Upgrading the plexmediaserver does not work.

Get the error message:
Error: Host: 13.1-RELEASE is not greater than target: 13.2-RELEASE This is unsupported.

cat /etc/version gives TrueNAS-13.0-U6.2

If I try to install a new version of Plex Media Server (1.40.3.8555) I get:

Error: 13.2-RELEASE was not found!

It appears that the 13.1 branch of iocage-ix-plugins requires 13.2 which is not available.

FreeBSD 13.2 is EOL since July 1st. You are a couple of years late with that update to TN 13.

The only TN CORE release that can run a supported FreeBSD release in jails is the 13.3 BETA2 with the jails running FreeBSD 13.3.

The server is in my summerhouse, so it does not get much attention. (Don’t fix a working thing)
Is the 13.3 BETA2 workable then?

Except for a VM VNC bug (which dyes not affect jails) it does.

I would also suggest installing plex using Scripted Plex Installation as the plugins are deprecated.

Thank You

I installed the 13.3 beta, and for sure it is not possible to the newer PLEX with the user inteface since it cannot find the 13.2 release.

Are there any guides to move to ”Scale”?

Upgrade your jail to FreeBSD 13.3 first. 13.2 is EOL.

If you’re considering migrating to SCALE, take a look at our migration guide:
