Hey, I just setup a pool and dataset with 2 users for my production company. The two users have identical ace’s and permissions from what I can see.
The issue
user 1- can read, write, execute all files
user 2- can read and copy but not write after mnt/company/…
I fought with this for hours today, even making new users, and remaking the smb share, both users are in a “group” in the filesystem ACL as well as smb acl".
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance!
Hi and welcome to the forums.
Can you share a screenshot of the permissions you’ve configured in the TrueNAS UI.
The obvious thing I can see is that you have a share ACL. Try loosing that (reset to default) and see if that’s better. Your filesystem ACL should be sufficient to control access.
I’d also lose the owner@ and group@ entries. You’ll need to apply permissions recursively to re-stamp all permissions.
Thank you! That fixed it, I appreciate you taking the time, I know it probably seems like a simple fix but I was struggling lol. Thanks again

You are very welcome. They are only simple if you know them so never be afraid to ask my friend.
