Can I import an existing ZFS from a prior TrueNAS Scale server into a new install that is a VM on Proxmox without wiping out the drive when I setup hardware pass-through? Thanks
I did this today. I had TrueNAS running on an old dedicated NAS with TrueNAS installed on a separate SSD. I built a Proxmox host and passed through the HBA to a brand new TrueNAS VM. I removed the 6 disks that were the pool from the old NAS, put them in the host, fired up the new VM, and it imported my pool successfully.
So you pass the HBA without the drives first, then connected the pre-populated drives from your old system. Did it read the ZFS drives without any difficulty? Any need to configure? Thanks for your help.
