Jellyfin Client Can't See Server

I have Jellyfin running on Electriceel, but the neither Jellyfin nor VLC on my Google TV can see the server.

On the Jellyfin client, it asks “Enter server address” and when I enter 10.0.0.176, I get

Unable to connect to server, tried the following addresses:
http://10.0.0.176 - Unable to connect
http://10.0.0.176:8096 - Unable to connect
. . .

Which should all be correct.

In the TrueNAS Apps tab, when I select Jellyfin it shows

Ports
    tcp://0.0.0.0:30013:8096
    tcp://:::30013:8096

I suspect something is borked in the Docker settings between the internal and external address, but I cannot find any configuration setting to address this.

Does anyone have any advice on how to troubleshoot this.

I do have Plex running successfully, but it it won’t play certain movies correctly unless I pay them a ransom.

I wanted to add, that Jellyfin can cast to my Google TV, so it can see the external network, but it seems like the eternal network cannot see Jellyfin.

Where external network, is the real network external to the Docker container.

I am not familiar with this part of the new Electric Eel interface, but if I were to guess, is 30013 the external port and 8096 the internal one?

If so, you should set your clients to connect using 10.0.0.176:30013 instead.

OMG, now I feel stupid.

Yes, 10.0.0.176:10013 works.

Many thanks.

Jellyfin seems to choke on the same files as Plex, but Plex claims to have a solution, for a price. My journey is not over yet…

Have you verified that Jellyfin is able to use your hardware acceleration, if you have the hardware necessary?

Unlike Plex, it’s not a paid addon and with it Jellyfin should be able to transcode on the server, lightening the load on your Google TV device (with some limitations).
