Jellyfin 10.11.0 has been just released and it is a huge update, there are significant changes on the back-end regarding the database. I think you will find more info on the Project’s website or within the GitHub issues.
I’ve met the requirements but Jellyfil upgrade fails:
You MUST be running Jellyfin 10.10.7 before upgrading to 10.11.0! You may be fine with Jellyfin 10.9.11 but this is less-extensively tested. Upgrading from any other versions is NOT supported and WILL fail; upgrade to 10.10.7 first, then upgrade to 10.11.0.
Update went fine here. I use Dockge and run a stack that includes Watchtower, but the update hadn’t automatically been pulled yet. So I did it myself without issue.
I tried and tried to update Jellyfin to 10.11.0 from 10.10.7 running in Portainer on TrueNAS 25.10-RC.1. I spent a few hours trying to get it to update successfully but the main issue was that the migration processes would get stuck on migrating some database objects or tables, nothing seemed to work.
Finally I gave up and wiped the Jellyfin config files and did a fresh install via a Portainer Stack start with Jellyfin:latest set. It took a bit of time to get back to where I was settings wise, but it gave me an opportunity to have a fresh look at the Jellyfin settings and adjust them as needed. A rescan of the media didn’t take too long in my case, so all is fine now.
Serious question. Is there any need to update Jellyfin if the installation you have (10.8.9 for me) works just fine and does everything you need?
Is there some killer feature in the latest version that I didn’t know I needed?
My upgrade went well except the home page was broken and the links didn’t work. I downgraded back to 10.10.7 (snapshot prior to upgrade restored my previous working install). I don’t recommend updating until they work out the bugs. Major bummer. It looks like it will be an awesome update once it works.
