I think you’re perhaps misunderstanding the use and role of a checkpoint.

When you create a checkpoint ideally you should already know when it will be discarded and therefore automate this process if possible. In my opinion there are two different occasions checkpoints help. You plan to undertake some work on your TrueNAS and you are concerned things could go south then…
