Micron retiring Crucial ssd brand for consumers

Not sure about you guys, but i bought quite a few crucial for my NAS applications.

Some MX500 2.5’’ sata, MX500 M.2 sata, P5 Plus 2tb (Gen4 TLC dram) ssds.

But now, they are winding down. Just thought you all should know :sob:

wasnt sure to put this under truenas or general. so i moved to general to be safe. i was initially posting for use with truenas in mind for ssd  but yes for even regular desktop pc gamers, ur goose is cooked also :sob:

but surely that is rock bottom and no possible scenario of getting any worse?

Nvidia wishes they could stop making GPU’s and have all those customers move towards GeForce now.

:grimacing: hope their wish never comes to pass

but what they did do (RUMOR), is not include the vram thus giving the AIB’s the middle finger. guess what that will do to prices :downcast_face_with_sweat:

Tagged your topic with “AI” because I hate AI and I hope more people share my hatred for it. :hugs:

And if that wasn’t enough, u think o it’s just crucial.

but then what about others not exiting but highly affected by the shortage.

though tbh crucial exiting hurt me more since i actually buy from them for my ssd usage :sob:

So what? I prefer to buy “Micron”-branded components over secondary monikers such as “Crucial” anyway.

At some point, investors will no longer be able not to notice that the “AI” hype is not delivering productivity increases comensurate with the huge amounts of capital that is sucked up. And that circular schemes where GPU makers pay AI companies to buy more GPUs, using money leveraged on expected future revenues, do not square up with proper accounting.
The bubble cannot burst soon enough. But the resulting stock market crash will have consequences for “real”, productive economy.

Which, in a sense, solves the issues: No job, no salary, no money to spend on gaming hardware anyway. So no need to buy the GPU you cannot afford.

well crucial what i normally buy. guess ill get samsung ssd from now since i can get a discount  but not right now.

some samsung news

no mention if that includes nand for ssd or not
