Moving drives

I have 2 Truenas systems both running TrueNAS-13.0 u6 and i want to move 5 drives from one system to the other one. How hard is it to do or i just move the drives and import them into the other system?

Welcome to the TrueNAS Forums.

Okay, your question allows me to make assumptions.

My assumption is you want to physically move a complete set of drives for a pool into a different TrueNAS system, then import the drives.

Yes, you can do that. You should “Export” the pool on the original system first, but if you do not, it is not a huge deal.

Next you transplant the drives. Power Up.

In the GUI you Import the pool.

That is it. Nothing difficult when it comes to ZFS.

Any shares you previously had would need to be recreated of course.

WARNING!!! Do not update your ZFS features is offered to do it. Wait a month or longer before you do that, if you do that. If you do it and find out you need to go back, you won’t be able to easily at all.

All your assumptions are correct.
So export move import sounds good, thanks

I like the easy questions :joy:
