Now able to create a pool with single disk in Stripe layout

What is going on when trying to create a pool with Stripe layout with a single disk?

**

Error: [EFAULT] Failed to wipe disk sde: [Errno 5] Input/output error

**

It has issues with wiping the disk, but that red herring because i did a manual wipe that took a very long time and what was successful and still i still get the same error

so issue is the not disk being able to be wiped, it has to be something else with truenas, as you can see in screenshot below i manually wiped the drive and it already wiped and then retrying to create pool with this wiped disk and still getting the same error. it is annoying, had to spend hours wiping that drive thinking that will fix the issue

is this an issue with Stripe layout?

I am using TrueNAS Scale latest release Dragonfish-24.04.2.3

Hmmm, I tried it in a test environment, same Dragonfish-24.04.2.3 release, and it worked. No hassle.

How is the disk wired up to the system board?

i mean how the disk is wired to the system? i mean it is showing up in truenas, so does it matter how it is connected?

well if it does, disk is connected via the drive slots in front of the Dell R730xd server, same way the other pools were connected that i created first pool with in a mirror

You’re getting an I/O error.

Are you sure the disk isn’t faulty?

I was able to wipe the disk
did you see that?

also hereis what is showing in iDRAC

the expanded view is the drive in question. so all looks good to me
also truenas sees the disk fine, with correct capacity and no issues until i try to create a pool
