That’s not really true, drivers are available for both. TrueNAS has decided to pick one. The community has proven it is possible to have a choice.

What would a comparable replacement be for my Quadro P2200? My server is a T640 in Tower Mode with not a lot of room in this config having 18x 3.5” drives. I only use my GPU for Plex transcoding.
A310 tbh for Plex transcoding. Well supported, plenty fast, works with a lot of codecs, drivers are in kernel and not a proprietary blob.
All the feedback on this card looks great! I’d be a little worried if my Dell T640 supports rebar or resizable bar since it’s a little ancient nowadays.
Anyone knowledgeable about this? Right now, my card is a Dell Nvidia Quadro P2200 which works great for Plex HW transcoding.
ReBAR isn’t necessary for video transcoding; it’s crucial for gaming or compute workloads on the ARC cards though.
I googled that for you. Yes it supports resizable BAR, you need a BIOS from late 2022 or later to be able to enable it.
Interesting - I kept reading posts where people acted like the card is basically useless without rebar. I guess best way to find out is to try and see how it performs. I’d only be using it for Plex transcoding. Thanks!
@yorick - mind sharing where you saw this? My T640 BIOS is updated to the latest and I combed through my settings and was unable to find anything about rebar or resizable bar.

But hardware transcoding works….
Does Plex perhaps use its own internal DB rather than querying PCI devices? If so, probably a result of not having an entry to map 2d05 to a text result.
Plex does not query PCI devices. Maybe the fact that the docker sees a GPU is enough, even an unknown one?
Well this is crap.
Looks like I’ll be blowing away my TrueNAS build and going back to OpenMediaVault this weekend. I am not throwing away a perfectly good GTX 970 that I use in Handbrake and Jellyfin.

Well you needn’t throw away (nearly) perfectly good TrueNAS either - installing the alternative GeForce drivers is MUCH easier than reinstalling a different NAS OS.
How do you figure? I’ll have to force in the legacy drivers for every single update from here on out on TrueNAS. Whereas on OMV, I install once, and apt takes care of the rest for me.
Hear me out though; is there anything in the update that you actually need vs whatever version you’re using presently? If not, why not just skip a few versions if an ocassional legacy driver update is a pain.
