Optimizing Frigate NVR on TrueNAS Scale with Intel N100 (Ugreen 2Bay NAS, 16GB RAM)

Hi,

I’m running TrueNAS Scale on a Ugreen 2Bay NAS with an Intel N100 and 16GB RAM, self-hosting Frigate NVR. I’m experiencing choppy and laggy camera streams despite the N100 being reportedly capable and an upgrade from my previous Synology NAS hardware, which ran the same cameras fine.

I have Frigate’s GPU passthrough enabled, but it doesn’t seem effective, as video remains choppy, and CPU usage is high.

Any tips to optimize my system to get the most out of this N100 on TrueNAS? A frigate dev voiced that this is not normal performance they see with frigate on an N100 CPU and that it’s likely outdated drivers.
