Plex App - Local Vs Remote Vs Indirect - Help!

I have setup a new plex server (thanks to some storage help on this forum) - and all was working well - Its a small home setup and I can stream to my Firesticks / TV Apps / Ipad ok, and even to my phone on data only (no wifi)

The problem is I noticed that all devices show up in the dashboard as streaming remotely. In terms of usability this is not an issue (my media is all 1080p so not seeing any impact of being classed as remote) and I have the remote plex pass but…

it annoys me that everything on the same subnet should be local, and I might not want to pay for the plex pass remote forever.

Reading on here I tried rebuilding the plex app with “Host network” ticked (no other changes) and after doing this it appears that my PC can stream locally, but the firesticks (local) and the “remote” phone app is showing up as “Indirect” with crippled bitrate…

also, weirdly the “view WebUI” button on the apps screen for plex has disappeared…

I looks like enabling the “Host Network” setting has broken remote access (was working on 192.168.0.50 : 32410 - I didnt use the default 32400 as I still have my old server running until I get the new one fully working)

so looks like its a split WIFI band issue. Plex server is hard wired. Devices on 5GHz Wifi working fine. Devices on 2.4Ghz Wifi “Indirect”. So switching firestick to 5GHZ solves the issue…

Just so happened the closest TV to my PC is the kitchen Firestick which was on 2.4Ghz. Need to have better test plans
