Hi, i’m at the end of the rope and need some input / new things to try or some genious who can just tell me what’s wrong.
So on and off i’ve had this issue with plex randomly crashing, now it’s gotten even worse lately and it’s not really something i can live with as it crashes after say, 15 min or so.
I’ve tried to locate what might be the issue by:
- Spinning up a new plex server on another computer = no issue at all with buffering or crashing
- Installing a new plex app on the server = same issue
- Tried increasing resources to plex app up to 1200m and 90gb ram = same issue albeit maybe a little better or longer before the issue pops up
- My apps pool runs off of two NVME sticks which are mirrored. Both are connected through a pcie adapter so I tried removing one at a time to check if one was bad = same issue
- Switching network cable from 10gbit to brand new at 1gbit
Looking at netdata I can see that my IO spikes through the roof every time this happens so something is making these spikes, what could that be?
The one thing i will try after writing this post is removing my 10g NIC and moving back to 1gbit to verify that’s also not the issue.
My system:
Dell R730xd
330HBA connected to 12 Disks, 5 SATA and 7 SAS 6G disks
Boot SSD
2 NVME apps pool
10gbit intel NIC
Nvidia 2060
12G HBA with external MiniSFF connected to Supermicro 12G expander which connects to 12 SAS 6G Exos
Storage pool is Raidz2 with 4 vdevs.
RAM 128GB
CPU e5-2690v4
Any ideas?
