Hi,
Received my first time failure yesterday on my raidz2 pool of 8x14TB drives (Truenas core).
I was planning on upgrading the size of my drives anyway, so I ordered a replacement 26TB drive, I was going to replace all 8.
Upon sleeping on it, I realized I need to finally get around to building a backup server and now more than ever.
My failed 14tb is under warranty so I should receive a replacement drive at some point (probably a few weeks I assume).
Question:
If I replace the failed 14TB drive with my new 26TB so my pool is no longer degraded, can I still remove the 26TB drive in a few weeks time once I receive the warranty replacement 14TB drive and slap that back in?
I’m assuming since my pool is 8x14TB, it won’t care that it’s 26TB and will just run it as if it’s 14TB?
Then I would use the 26TB for my new server I am now planning to build.
