Well - I’ve tried nothing & am out of ideas. Someone smarter than me will have to assist further…
Try zpool import -Ffn Puta_RAID5 and post the output.
Tks for your help Fleshmauler. You are a gentleman.
Pasting terminal output as formatted text (</> button) is better than screenshots.
If losing the last 10 seconds of transactions is acceptable, run the command again without the n to do it for good.
zpool import -R /mnt -Ff Puta_RAID5
Of course, the web shell in FreeNAS sucks, and copy/paste from it is iffy at best.
Dear Arwen, Fleshmauler, Dan and Etorix.
I appreciate all the help you gave me. Etorix’s suggestion worked and I managed to recover almost all of the 6.75TB of information. I only lost 70MB of information.
It took five days to copy all the information. Everyone on this forum was a true gentleman and forgave me for my ignorance on this matter, and I am very grateful to everyone for that.I therefore take the bold step of asking: the software I have installed on all my NAS is FreeNAS from 2018. Now when rebuilding this machine, should I keep the same software and create a new pool or install one of the new TrueNAS?
Tks again for everything.
Alex
You should always run current and supported software.
It is generally not recommended to apply every update on day one, but neither is running 7 years old software. Regular updates and maintenance are an essential part of system management.
Namely, you should at least upgrade from 11 to TrueNAS 12 (latest), and then to 13.0-U6.7.
At which point you can choose either:
- to sidegrade to 25.04 now; or
- to just fossilise on CORE 13.0 for some years, and defer migrating to SCALE/CE/Whatever_it_will_be_named_by_then when you build a new NAS (that J3160 will eventually be caught by its age…).
Tks again for everything and the time you spend on me.
Ill follow your sugestions.
Alex
