Realtek 8111M don’t detected (mini PC)

Hi.

Started using TrueNAS scale a while ago and ran into the problem that the built-in Realtek 8111m network card is not detected.

Mini PC: soyo m2plus (intel n100)

I tested on original debian and there is the same problem, but if I install drivers and module for RTL 8168, the network card starts working correctly.

Moreover, while TrueNAS scale is running, LED indicators on rj45 show that there is a link and occasionally some short packet is sent.

Tried plugging in an external USB network card and it is detected and works correctly, but I would like to solve this problem without additional adapters to have an all-in-one device. Furthermore, the external network card and my past PC also used Realtek cards but a different model.

I wouldn’t want to patch the OS image or unlock APT because if I update the OS, the changes will be lost and I will lose the connection to the device.

I don’t have a solution for you except to say that realtek NICs are known to be problematic and not reliable with TN. Unfortunately that mini-pc doesn’t have any expansion options beyond the USB dongles you have tried, so without modifying the OS, I don’t see a solution to this.

“Mini-PC” and “TrueNAS” aren’t likely to be a good combination in any event.
