Problem/Justification
(1) Reporting|Netdata generates a useful page but it is behind a random password which changes every time:
This password can’t be manually set or removed as far as I can see. Needing to login with a new pw every time seems an overkill. Does it really need this level of security and, if so, couldn’t it be left to the admin to manage the pw?
(2) It would be nice if you could remain permanently logged in or to this netdata page so it continues to show, independently of the admin login for the rest of the UI.
Impact
advantage: you can have a netdata dashboard monitoring all aspects of the NAS
disadvantage: perhaps there is a security implication in removing/altering the pw requirements.
User Story
There are some additional details shown here but the main thrust is that I (and perhaps others) would like to be able to open at will a live web page of the netadata stats and leave it open for arbitrary lengths of time.
@E_B You have already asked this once at How can I remain logged in to the netdata page? so I am unclear why you have opened a duplicate topic rather than ask supplemental questions on the original topic.
I suspect that this was done this way (which would have required significantly more effort) because of some technical limitation. But certainly no harm in asking.
The dialog itself was added after issues with outright losing access to the Netdata page showed up during testing. Originally I think the plan was for it to automatically log in every time, but that had issues on repeat visits. This at least gives you an option for recovery, but absolutely there’s no harm in requesting improvements/further investigation.
