This has got me confused
I have a mapped drive to a SMB share on my Truenas Server
I use the same name / password combo on windows and TrueNAS
Have two directories in the Share
ls -l for them
drwxrwx--- 35 alister root 430 Feb 21 18:36 Mum final
drwxrwx--- 2 alister root 25 Mar 21 15:12 misc pdfs
I can rename the misc pdfs
folder but can’t rename Mum final
Everything I can see is set the same
I could understand ot being able to change both folders but just one?
Hi Alister,
Can we a see a screenshot of your full permissions by clicking ‘Edit’.
Also did you use the standard defaults when creating the SMB share and did you not modify the share ACL?
Thanks

I don’t think it can be the share as it that would affect both i.e. if I have permission to edit one through the share door then I have permission to edit both through that door
One important protocol note is that SMB renames will fail with ACCESS_DENIED if the you have a file open inside the directory you’re renaming. samba/source3/smbd/smb2_reply.c at 88613bd5482ba72dc03d9cb2d01524f90684daff · truenas/samba · GitHub
There are .msg files in the folder which explorer is locking open with a lovely error - I have 64 bit office installed but explorer’s preview needs 32 bit!
I’ll have to shutdown this PC and try another
Thanks Microsoft
