I use a 9211-8i 6Gbps HBA LSI card with two SATA connection cable outputs (8).
With this converter
can I use SAS disks.
Is your question if you can chain those SAS → SATA + SATA → SAS adapters and still connect a SAS disk to your HBA?
No, that’s not going to work. It has to be SAS all the way.
No, your 9211 doesn’t have SATA connection cable outputs; it has SAS outputs. With the proper cable or backplane, yes, you can use it with SAS disks.
Right now I have 2 SATA drives connected to the board.
If I want to use SAS disks do I need to change the cables?
Since you haven’t told us what cabling you’re using, we can’t say for sure, but you’re likely using a SAS breakout cable, so you can plug it directly into a SAS disk.
