My System Version : Dragonfish-24.04.2
Recently, I have also been using TrueNAS as the company’s NAS management system and have found the following issues. I am not sure if it is due to my lack of understanding of the functionality or if it is an inherent problem with TrueNAS itself.
Usage requirement case:
I want to create a sub dataset [media] as an SMB share, named [movie]. There are three folders under the [media] dataset, namely [Science-Fiction], [Animation], and [Thriller]
In user management, I have set up three users, namely [admin], [son], and [mother]
I hope [admin] can have full control over these three folders,
And [son] can only open the [Animation] folder, not the [Science-Fiction] and [Thriller] folders
I have found the following issues:
1.The sub dataset cannot be used as Chinese or other non English characters
If I need ACL control for each folder, then I can only create sub datasets to store the content of ‘Science Fiction’, ‘Animation’, and ‘Thriller’, but the dataset cannot be in Chinese.
2.The sub dataset cannot be created in a regular folder, it can only be created under the sub dataset
If ‘Science Fiction’ is just a regular folder, and I create a ‘Children’s Science Fiction’ folder under the ‘Science Fiction’ folder, I hope the ‘son’ account can access the ‘Children’s Science Fiction’ folder in the ‘Science Fiction’ folder, and other files and folders in the ‘Science Fiction’ folder are not allowed to access.
3.For directories without access permission, they cannot be hidden
As in question 2, I hope that when [son] opens the sharing account, he cannot see the [Thriller] folder (because he has no permission at all), while when [son] opens the [Science Fiction] folder, he only sees the [Children’s Science Fiction] folder and its contents
4.POSIX permissions can only add 20
What should I do if I need to add more than 20 group permissions in the future?
5.After adding a hard drive, TrueNAS cannot start. What should I do if I need to add a hard drive during use?
Thank you for reading. I hope you can provide a response to our communication. Thank you.
