Hello Im wondering if anybody face this issue. Two Treuenas Scale installation on Dell Poweredge Servers 7515 with 24Core and 512 GB mem all Flash storage and copy files si take ages even this are 3 to 10 MB files. Any idea?
Upgrade RAM to 1TB ?
When you say “copy, overwrite” what do you mean? What are you copying to/from?
Do you have dedup enabled? How is your pool configured? How full is the pool?
How many files are you trying to copy, do you see the same behavior with a single large file compared to many small files?
When you say ages, how long do you actually mean? What sort of throughput are you getting on the 10Gbit link?
Why Upgrade if i have all SSD pool?
My pool are One VDEV pool contains 8x 7,6 TB PCIE Micron 7450 and second server 8x 7,Ĺľ TB Samsung 17XX drivers. Copy is happening between them via 10GBit Intel 550 Ethernet dual port card connected to 10GBit switch. (4 port Unifi 10GBit XP).
On Pool is engaged only TRIM form SSD wear level.
I have default installation with created 3 different SMB shares. No other configuration.
Copy or overwrite is done via MacBook conected to TB adapter to 10Gbit Ethernet connect to same switch.
Througput is ok. If I move here Bluray rip I get close to 1,2 GB even between the two system. But large amount of files like photo libraries of 3000 to 5000 files or size 3-6 MB take sometimes more than hour to copy or even overwrite.
Even read (list Dir take 5-15 seconds base don number of files.)
The massive slowness I have observed like is waiting to check something when I come WhatsApp jpg pictures.
I have no L2 arch or Slog dedicated devices.
Its shame that people dont respect other people’s time.

and expecting any meaningful answer is just so bad.
What is your MTU and SMB multichannel settings ?
To my knowledge MacOS always sync writes to SMB shares, unlike Windows.
Do you see the same issues if you test with sync disabled on the dataset?
Hello Yes I see the same behavior even width disabled. Seem something was changed in recent. year because before I USe Trenas Core it was nothing visible. After I come to the new Release to Scale. 23.xx and 24.xx im observing the issue. Even was report this as bug to Xi developers they closed it as is not na bug on their side. So they only tell me put here on the forum. Still need Digging during my vacation why this happened. I created Two new Servers and is doneness relay to the HW Config. Intel and Epic has same behavior on two different DELL HW.
You would need to look at performance metrics and find a bottleneck. I would strongly suspect smbd to be CPU bottlenecked: 24-core server likely will have a very low boost clock, and this will limit max performance.
But again, without looking at actual perf stats it’s all guesswork.
The problem is not the HW DELL servers itself. The Limitation is here really Between MAC and Truenas configuration. I suspect MAC SMB config and counterpart on the Truenas SMB . Speed of the10 Gbit is ok measured with sequential write again on MAC when I test this with Black Magic. and it reach 900 MB Write on the SSD array what is limitation of the 10 Gbit with overhead. If I connect to the Same SMB with Windows system the read of Dir or copy the files is without problem.
