Talk me out of ASUS Pro WS W680-ACE (separate boxen)? :D

Oh, your hardware works, but if anything faults with ECC ram (if you have ECC ram) or the motherboard, without EDAC driver support, you won’t know what went wrong or how to fix it. You’d just start to see your system as unstable and not know why  .

As far as the CMOS batteries - have you tested them with a multimeter to guarantee that they supply the exact voltage required by the motherboard? I’ve seen a couple of threads on Reddit and elsewhere with people saying they replaced the batteries, and it still failed, only to find out that a new (different) battery indeed fixed the issue. Depending on how long the new ones sit on shelves or manufacturing issues, or whatever, there’s no way to know without testing the battery/contacts to know for sure. Try a quality Duracell or Energizer and not low-price bin ones.

If you go through all of that, and are running the latest Intel EM update and ASUS Bios version, and still have issues, you would probably have to send it to Asus is my guess :person_shrugging:

This is wonderful news, thanks for sharing. I’d stopped thinking it’d be possible on this hardware, but I think I can hold out till TrueNAS pulls in 6.15.x+

I hope!
