FreeNAS 9.2.8 was my very first experience of running a NAS on a HP Microserver. I built my own machine around 2014 and upgraded it in 2018, retiring the old one to backup duties and selling the HP Microserver as a working Free/TrueNAS server! I haven’t used anything else, and thanks to this forum (well, mainly the old one) and its amazing members, I’ve learned so much about FreeBSD, Jails, VMs, and many of the services running on them. There was always someone willing to help a newbie, and hopefully I even managed to help a few along the way.
I’ve always been happy with FreeBSD and its jails, so I didn’t really want to migrate to Scale, hence the reason for burying my head in the sand for so long after FreeBSD 13 EOL. The PHP vulnerability made me pull it out, and the timing of FreeCORE couldn’t have been any better.
Today has been a really positive day in many ways, upgrading to FreeCORE 15.0-U2.4 and updating some of my 13.5 jails to 15.1, but it’s also been quite sad knowing I was leaving this amazing software and community behind.
I just wanted to say a huge THANK YOU and wish everyone all the best in whatever direction their TrueNAS journey continues in…
