True Nas Scale New

Hi everybody.

I’m starting to test True Nas scale with a mini pc based on the J1900 Cpu…just for testing. I want be familiar with it before to switch my nas to True NAs.

The WEB GUI is really nice…i like it.
At the moment i’m using an external usb drive to test it.

I’ve few questions for you experts.

Is the Stripe HDD layout based on ZFS as well?

I found most of the applications i already have on my current setup, but something about power management…like standby system is missing…

Does exist any application to manage the nas state? Standby…or shutdown, depending on the current activities?

At the moment, what i could find is just the HDD spindown featurer to reduce as most as most as possible the power consumption when not used.

Any suggestion about?

Many thanks in advance.

Maurizio

yes since zfs is the only filesystem that truenas uses

Truenas is designed as an enterprise storage solution with 24/7 uptime, so no there’s no standby option, only hdd standby as you’ve mentioned.
Of course you can shut the system down and power it on when you need it

Hi Lars, thank for the quick answer.

I noticed that the usb drive is spinning down before the 5 minutes i setlled as test? is it something i must change on the configuration?

the last one…is it possible to create open folders, which requires no logging?

Many thanks in advance.

Maurizio
