Wait, so 25.10.2.x is âearly adopterâ â if I let TrueNAS 25.10.x update the GoldenEye train without any special beta buttons itâll put me on an âearly adopterâ train/release?
And, in the official status page 25.10.2.x is an absent mystery release, too EarlyAdoptery for General but too old for the Early Adopter row?
Color me confused.
25.10.1 has the option for General in the trains selections. All the more recent updates to 25.10 are, currently, in the Early Adopter train. That changes as TrueNAS changes the stability on the Status Page. Only one version is listed per category on the Status page.
If you want to be on the General update train and on a 25.10 version, you need to switch the train to General while on 25.10 through 25.10.1 and that will keep you from getting updates until the next release is in the General category.. 25.10.1 will not see the 25.10.2 updates if on General
If you installed any version of 25.10 before 25.10.1 went to General status and did not change your update profile to General, then you most likely were already on Early Adopter. If youâre talking about updating from 25.04, then Iâd expect it to just show you the latest regardless of recommendation level as it always did because it doesnât have the improved profile behavior thatâs in 25.10.
As @SmallBarky said, if youâre on 25.10.1 or .0 you can change your profile to general and then only be offered an upgrade when a newer version reaches that level.
See Update from 25.04.2.6 to 25.10.1 - #6 by DjP-iX for context, but the short answer is that the Software Status page is automated and only pulls in the most recent release at each level. The overlap probably wonât happen again once weâve fully moved to the yearly release cycle.

25.10.3 will be announced when it is ready. I donât know if this is the last planned update to 25.10 but it may be undergoing extra QC.
The last post I saw mentioned âlater in Aprilâ, nothing more specific I can remember
Note that 25.10.3 will not be available as âGeneralâ until it has been verified by the Community and we see that bugs are rare and unlikely to significantly impact many users.

Iâd like to move to the General update profile, since I use my TrueNAS for home-critical functions, also known as WAF.
Since Iâm on 25.10.3, if I simply wait, will the âGeneralâ update profile become selectable if I wait a bit (a few days? weeks?)? Itâs currently greyed out.
Fully what I expect, yes. 25.10.3 should, if it proves itself, become General within month(s). At which point selecting the General train should be available.
You have two options, wait for GA to show, check and change BEFORE making any updates, or you can change the boot environment to 25.10.1 or earlier (make it active) and then change the train to GA status. If you have made a bunch of changes to your system from earlier 25.10 updates, I would just wait and keep checking the train options every so often.
That should happen when 25.10.3 is graduated to âgeneralâ.
While you are on an âearly adopterâ version.. we donât give you the option to pretend to be on âgeneralâ⌠if we find a serious issue, we may recommend an interim upgrade.
