I’m a general (non-early-adopter) user of the community edition of TrueNAS Scale. Looking at the possibility of updating to the 25.10 train.
The “Which TrueNAS Version is Recommended?” page says I should update to TrueNAS-24.10.1, but the Update page in my TrueNAS box only offers me TrueNAS-25.10.2.
Which would be the best course of action?
Is TrueNAS-25.10.2 stable enough for a non-early adopter?
I would wait until 25.10.2 hits General. If you are antsy, do a manual update to 25.10 and then make sure to select General on the update train, when you check for updates to 25.10 series. I don’t know if it is default setting or still shows Early Adopter.
Adding download link for 25.10 location so you can find manual update file
I was waiting for 25.10.2.1 to move to “General” user type as suggested by @SmallBarky, but now it is gone from the list.
Does it mean that 25.10.2.1 is not recommended for General users?
TrueNAS should be working on the 25.10.3 update. I don’t know if they are aiming to make that a General status quickly.
You could do a Manual update (download manual file) to 25.10.0 and make sure you are on the General train and then allow your system to do the rest of the updates to get you to 25.10.1.
We’re at an awkward state in the release cycle with both 26-BETA.1 being available and 25.10.2.1 still being marked for Early Adopters. I don’t think this situation should happen too much in the future as we move to the one year release cycle, but the newer Early Adopter just bounced the earlier one from the status table for the time being. I would still expect it to be an option in the UI, but maybe the logic wasn’t built with this situation in mind. Might be worth a bug report if it isn’t.
I wouldn’t expect 25.10.2.X to move to General status at this point, but hopefully 25.10.3 will do so fairly quickly after some soak time.
I just checked my VM and 25.10.2.0 & 25.10.2.1 both show Developer and Early Adopter as Update Profiles so it is just the change on the TrueNAS Software Status page.
