We’re one week into the TrueNAS 25.10 “Goldeye” beta period, with a thousand initial testers jumping in to provide review and bug reports. Already there have been a few fixes queued up for 25.10-RC.1 coming at the end of this month, including:
There are a few fixes that will be added to the RC.1 version. Significant fixes include:
Cannot upgrade to 25.10-BETA if 3 or more partitions are present on the boot device (NAS-137350)
Disk query issue with SD card readers that blocks initial pool creation (NAS-137391)
Resolving false alerts about disk temperature (NAS-137385)
TrueNAS 25.10-RC.1 includes over 100 updates and fixes. Most are minor, but a few significant enhancements stand out, including the re-enablement of VNC for VM access. These updates help complete the features planned for the full 25.10 release at the end of September.
One of the other major additions in RC.1 is support for TrueNAS Connect, a new web-based control panel for managing the TrueNAS software. Connect introduces a streamlined way to handle common tasks, including automated email alerts and SSL certificate setup for secure system management. It is completely optional, but highly encouraged as the default place for day-to-day software administration. For hardware-specific tasks, the appliance management interface will remain fully available and supported.
TrueNAS Connect is a free (and optional) SaaS offering, covering essentials such as alerts, SSL configuration, and an optional web-driven install wizard. An early trial period for Connect will open after 25.10-RC.1 becomes available. Developers running Nightly images will see the Connect icon in the status bar ahead of time, but account linking will only be enabled after the trial launch. More details on how to activate and use Connect will be provided before release.
The official launch of TrueNAS 25.10 is planned for the end of October.
TrueCommand is a different model… runs in a container on-site.
It doesn’t support webinstall and certificates.
There will be a 3.2 update to use the new Goldeye API.
They will co-exist. More to come…
I see you are coexisting on CORE (as are about 30% of TrueNAS users).
It was interesting to see you started on TrueNAS (freeNAS) pre-ZFS. That co-existence has finished. Before my time… how long did that go for.
Yes, TrueCommand will coexist in a similar way. We hope that TrueNAS Connect will be embraced by CE users. But TrueCommand will be required until users transition to 25.10 or above.
