this morning a had a truenas core system restarting continuously.
I thought first that is boot to os issue, so i have re-installed truenas core - all ok.
After importing the existing pool of the system , the issue starts again. The system is restarting after importing pool (each time of the reboot cycle). I connect a monitor on the system and check this: each time the system reboots, importing the pool and then crashing with some errors and reboot again.
I have tried the same again with a new SSD for the O.S. same behavior.
Now i don’t know how to troubleshoot more and what to check.
Any suggestions appreciated.
The hardware was an HP Pro tower with 8GB Ram. It worked perfectly with truenas core 12 for about 7 years.
the two drives where connected to motherboard directly. no raid controller on that motherboard. (mirror pool with 2 nasware drives) and 1 SSD boot drive.
I have manage to restore from backup on a new truenas core setup and thankfully no lost data for that company.
Most probably is the hardware that cause this failure, even is working now after i reinstall everything. I’m just wondering if we can investigate what happened for reference purposes.
if any of the 2 mirror pool drives (1,2,or both) is connected to the system, truenas is restarting. if pool drives are disconnected, truenas is booting normally.
Is there any way to investigate what cause that and why this happen ? or is something that we never really know ?
The drives are not clicking or anything, and they had good condition some days before the incident. no smart errors or delays or anything. So the system might had a failure and corrupt the pool.
