TrueNAS SCALE 24.10.1 is Now Available!

Yes.

@HoneyBadger Thatā€™s what I thought. The display used to show all 32 cores. MY older AMD Opteron 6378 system I updated is showing only 1 processor and 16 cores.
If I do a lscpu on the system, it shows

CPU(s): 32
On-line CPU(s) list: 0-31
Vendor ID: AuthenticAMD
Model name: AMD Opteronā„¢ Processor 6378
CPU family: 21
Model: 2
Thread(s) per core: 2
Core(s) per socket: 8
Socket(s): 2
The Overview only shows 1 processor (16 cores)

No ā€œanotherā€ for me - since Iā€™d been affected by the lack of nvidia driver carryover on the point releases - but this time - yes, painless update. Thanks to the TrueNAS team

Yep, I was wondering how I had lost half my threads (well it is right for cores but itā€™s definitely been halved from what it was before, whatever itā€™s showing).

Iā€™m not sure if this has been covered but this is the new behaviour, its in the release note as a fix "Rework Dashboard CPU widgets to show metrics per physical core (NAS-131839)".

Updated without any problems on TrueNAS and 14 Apps,
just the Home Assistant VM did not restarted because under
USB Passthrough Device the Device* was lost again.

ready/keen to do the upgrade from 24.04.1
Recall seeing a while back that there was issue migrating some of the apps over from current deployment into the new docker setup.
i have 1 straight container/influxdb. otherwise everything is out of the included catalogā€¦

G

Nextcloud wouldnā€™t happen to be one of your apps would it?
Ivā€™e been holding up on the updates to EE because I donā€™t want to bork my installā€¦

The update seemed to wipe out my docker settings, so all my Apps were gone afterward. Rebooting back to 24.10.0.2 brought everything back. Iā€™ll try to log a bug with a debug dump.

Ok, then the update only seems to have problems with the big/little design of the i5-1235u. (Two of its 10 cores can do hyperthreading and the rest is single threaded.)

It would be interesting to know if someone else is running 24.10.1 on such an asymmetric processor and has similar problems with the widget.

i updated and tested and while my plex only shows ā€œautoā€ as an option as well nvidia-smi does show it is using the GPU i have (a Tesla P4) to transcode like it should when something needs to be transcoded.

This issues appear to be rather unique and mostly related to that userā€™s setup.

I canā€™t install dev tools using install-dev-tools.
Output I get is

+ [[ '' == \-\-\f\o\r\c\e ]]
+ [[ ! -S /var/run/middleware/middlewared.sock ]]

And my nvidia gpu is not showing up in apps after the update.
Having to revert back for now. Iā€™ll try to make a bug report later if I have time but I doubt I will this weekend.

Call 24.10.1 ā€œKerrygoldā€ because the upgrade process was butter.

I just updated TS Scale on my system and Tailscale app. Everything went smooth and quick. Nice work.

Apologies if this is a false alarm, but does your PCI-e Raid Controller Card LSI SAS 9220-8i card operate in pass through mode without any third party RAID implementation layer?

Thanks for all the reports of issues and successes. Clearly there are some App and GPU issues with upgradesā€¦ lets start new threads to sort these out.

To put the issues in context, there were 10,000 systems that updated in the first 1.5 days. So, success % is probably very high.
