TrueNAS Scale on Arm (2024 Thread)

You’re running TrueNAS on a Mac Studio?

I do run pfSense VMs on a few TrueNAS installs, but am genuinely interested in your Studio setup.

Afterall, 96GB of Unified RAM is more than 3 5090s.

What CPU do you have?

Welp, I just blindly trust the seasoned users on this one. Why you should avoid USB attached drives for data pool disks. You could also find the shared topics at the bottom of the first post there.

That is a very cool setup. I’d simply counsel you to look into the issues that led others to silent data corruption while running TrueNAS in a VM despite checking off the usual gotcha boxes like hardware pass-through.

I’ve also tried to consolidate stuff here but drew the line at the router. I prefer that to be known-good hardware and it also allowed me to consolidate everything network that is externally reachable into one device. Thus, a lightning strike, etc. will hopefully only take out one device, not the whole network.
