I’m currently using TrueNAS SCALE, version 22.12.3.3.
Pool: Unencrypted
Dataset: Encrypted using a passphrase
Issue:
After rebooting TrueNAS, I attempted to unlock the encrypted dataset using the correct passphrase. However, it fails to unlock and displays the following error: “Provided key is invalid.”
Could you please suggest possible solutions or steps to unlock the dataset?
I understand this is a frustrating situation, and we have lot less info here to work with. Still let’s try to take a second look at this to avoid some possible gotchas here:
You mentioned ‘after reboot’. So first, please try with your caps on the keyboard set to on. We never know if they were on/off while you were setting the password before reboot.
Similarly, if you happen to have a second/alternate keyboard layout on the client system used for setting the password - that may be tried with all the possible combinations.
Next, there could be a possibility that there was some key that failed on a keyboard. I have see this happen especially with laptops (it could be even the shift key, Fn key etc.). So try through these possibilities as well.
Finally you could try attaching another keyboard and try the luck.
