Updated from Core to Scale now missing pool

I did double-check for geli encryption before updating, as described in Migrating from CORE | TrueNAS Documentation Hub.
At this point I don’t even try to rebuild the pool any more, I just want to get data back, Klennet ZFS Recovery have found all of my files so they’re for sure recoverable. I’ll just drop my drives to nearest data recovery company and just spend the money to get the data back.

If you’re at that point, a license key for Klennet is likely cheaper than using a recovery company.

Not really, I just contacted a local data recovery company and their initial quotation is half the price of Klennet.

Well good news atleast for me i have gotten all the pools back. Not sure exactly the order of opperations that made it available to “zpool import”. There were quite a few reboots and some other things. The ultimate thing that fixed it was downgrading to V23.XX ( i don’t remember the minor revision number at the momment) .

Did you do this yet? It doesn’t hurt.

Managed to recover all files using UFS Explorer with a standard license (60 euro), so in the end I got off cheap

That’s good to hear.

Can you still try this to see what the partitions and labels reveal?

It’s concerning that the sidegrade to SCALE might have touched your partitions or labels. I would be worried that this could happen again or to someone else.

One of the mirrored disks got corrupted when I was trying to recover data with a different software, so I’m down to only one disk now and once I copy all the data I will experiment, nothing to lose then either way.

I booted to CORE, no change, both disks are still acting the same as they were in Scale, pool is offline, etc. At this point I can’t be sure that the data recovery software didn’t mess with the disks in any way.

What was the output of the gpart command?
