Upgraded to 25.04 from 24.10 and SMB/CIFS shares intermittent

my primary is now back to EE and will stay there for the foreseeable future. Right now scale is basically a new version every release…incus isn’t done yet…remember the disaster that was corral and got the previous chief software engineer fired? We aren’t facing that type of disaster but scale is relaly more like a rolling release. i would wait for incus to be stabilized and be actual release quality before moving forward. if you are only using scale for storage then you are fine…except for he performance regressions i hit with FT. i am going to run EE unjtil it dies in terms of support then i will evaluate if i am going to continue with a Linux based ZFS system.

I’ve had to set the boot environment back to 24.10.2 tried all the things in the various posts such as change back to defaults, etc. nothing works. SMB cannot be connected to. But 24.10.2 boot environment still works.

Hi everyone,
I have the same issue here… SMB hangs and freezes all the time…
Yes, I use one share with multiproto, but it’s a "use as HOME ", so I cant go to “default share params”… if I do so, it works flawlessly…but without the HOME feature…
The interesting thing is, that if one smb share is multiproto and accessed, it freezes the whole smb service with all other shares as well…

any “real” fix for this?

thanks
Mike

I’m waiting for 25.04.1 to drop before I upgrade, with the expectation that this widespread issue will be addressed in its list of bugfixes. That’s why I stayed put on Electric Eel for the moment.

I see that 25.04.01 was released, but saw no mention of a fix the SMB issue.

Has anyone who had the issue tried upgrading yet?

I believe the release note item " Change how oplocks are handled for multiprotocol shares (NAS-135040)" resolves the issue with SMB.

Yup, didn’t see there was another link on the release for other fixed issues.
