I am running v25.10.0.1 on a new NAS I just built and unlike v13.0-U6.7 that I’m running on my 3 other NAS, the shell window keeps refreshing preventing me from using it, and has this message:
Warning! The supported mechanisms for making configuration changes are the TrueNAS WebUI and API exclusively. All other are not supported and result in undefined behavior that can result in system failure!
I was wanting to clear a read error on one of my drives to see if the error returns using zpool clear
So how does one clear an error on a drive? A search of the documentation does not provide an answer.
Thanks, I ended up using the truenas_admin, eventually even though I set up myself as an admin all the privileges don’t follow. I ran the zpool clear and I get permission denied. Why does something so simple have to be so difficult?
I have tried /usr/bin/zsh zpool clear NetDrive3
zsh no such file or directory: /usr/bin/zsh
cd /usr/bin/zsh zpool clear NetDrive 3
cd: too many arguments
I somehow remember using super user (su) while taking care of Linux computers for IRLP (Internet Radio Linking Protocol), and D-Star, for my amateur radio repeaters. But it’s not something you use all the time because it just works, like FreeNas and TrueNas, once you get them up and running.
I find that the documentation seems to be written by someone who intimate with the system and not by someone who is from the outside looking in. And it’s not well organized, Just My Opinion.
Thanks so much for your help. It took longer for the server to boot up than to perform the operation.
