I use the graphs on the reporting page during disk management which im doing a lot of for the next few weeks. So I have set access time for session to maximum (System Settings > Advanced) which is best fior my use-case.
But it doesnt help. Every time my laptop powers down to sleep or hibernate to save power, it still drops the sessions. This is highly annoying as I have to re-enter account, re-enter PW, and re-select the disks or other features Im monitoring (which it forgets after logging back in).
To avoid distraction, Ive seen in other threads “why would you want a long session” or “use ssh”. I don’t have security concerns for webUI access (locked door, no outside LAN access or physical access, at home where I work and live).
The disks I am working with are a repeated 100 hour process (multiple pools to build, doing heavy checking/testing) and the webUI graphs are really useful and my best tool to monitor periodically; the webUI allows long sessions and they work well for me. I just want my session time respected - and right now it isnt being respected.
Id rather not guess at fixes - it could be anything but Im not sure what, fundamentally, is causing a session to be lost. These are areas Im unfamiliar with, so I only have 2 guesses.
- Are sessions deleted unless the client provides a heartbeat to the server? If so why and if not why would sleep/hibernate matter if session duration is validly in scope?
- Alternatively, is the browser somehow losing state, perhaps if tabs are backgrounded or during sleep/hibernate? if so would fixing that, fix it and how?
For info, client is win 11 with latest vivaldi, a chrome browser, no wierd extensions or anything, near clean install.
Many thanks!
