Will data read/write operations outside of the task cause data errors or task failures during the execution of a SMART test or a scrub task?

Hello everyone!

Based on posts in the forum, I’ve configured TrueNAS to run a SMART short test once a week, a SMART long test every two weeks, and a scrub every two weeks (all scheduled on different dates).

My TrueNAS system also runs Time Machine backups and data synchronization services, so it’s possible that automatic read/write operations outside the scope of these maintenance tasks may occur while the SMART tests or scrub tasks are running.

I’d like to ask: could such operations cause errors in the SMART tests or scrub tasks, or lead to data read/write errors?

No  though if you’re really hammering a pool during smart test/scrub, you’ll likely delay the completion of the test/scrub.
