25.10.1 broke Apple SMB extension support. Help

25.10.1 fixed SMB share on one of dataset. But another dataset on the same machine is still broken. FCP can’t access library on that dataset.

One of my clients just had that problem yesterday, but with a Synology NAS and FileMaker.

So I am not sure if this really is connected to 25.10.1 or just pure luck and Apple still not having a decent SMB integration. IMHO Apple and SMB are not production ready. It half decent works to move files on and off, but that is about it.
IMHO Working from a SMB share with macOS is bound to end in problems.

Either way, you won’t get any help here with such little information. Tell us at least what the error is.

You are properly mean 25.10.0.1
25.10.1 will hopefully released this week.

More precisely, barring any unforeseen circumstances, version 25.10.1 should be available for download in approximately 24 hours.

On GitHub, we can see @DjP-iX having a fascinating battle with the Vale Style inspection bot.

 We’re still fine tuning the Vale implementation…

This is probably also a good place to tease that 25.10.1 also includes a new SMB preset to handle configuring shares to work with Final Cut Pro without manually configuring SMB options.

Oh, I watched the YouTube video posted couple days ago. I thought 20.10.0.1 fixed the smb share issue. Because one of the two dataset is fine now. But somehow the other one is still buggy.

Yes, I am confused with 25.10.1 because of the YouTube video was talking about the .1 update. Sorry, my mistake.

:bar_chart: Summary: 394 issues found in changed files - 23 errors, 2 warnings, 369 suggestions

I guess the bot won :face_with_hand_over_mouth: somehow.

It seems iX removed some fruit emulations for macOS compatibility.

A Linux Network Attached Storage (NAS) SMB volume must originate from a Linux server running Samba 4.3.4 or later configured with modules for Apple compatibility.

vfs objects = catia fruit streams_xattr

Yeah, that’s incorrect advice and information. We literally have checkboxes in this UI for this feature. It’s never been the case that pasting strings into auxiliary parameters has been required to enable this support.

I hope it finally fixes the Time Machine backups!

Yes. It fixes the ability for Tahoe to create new time machine backups.

Ummm I’m on the new release now, 25.10.1 and getting the same problem, .incomplete folder on the time machine share and message error on time machine app

Tried creating a totally new share and still the same

What is output of smbd -V

root@truenas[/home/truenas_admin]# smbd -V
Version 4.22.6-truenas

Sounds like then you have a different issue than the one in the upstream bug report / what we were able to reproduce. It might be permissions-related.

What is ACL on the files in question? Do any of them have an entirely empty ACL? nfs4xdr_getfacl <path>
