A few people may wonder why a nightly build is not being published for 26.04 at the moment. The team is actively working on the changes to transition to Trixie. Once these have been merged and stabilized, nightlies will resume.
will updating from a current nightly to a trixie based one “just work” or does one have to reinstall? Also, how long is the break in nightlies estimated to take approx.?
Got a new system with which I will experiment around for bit until I settle on a specific setup, might as well do that with the nightlies instead of a release…
Upgrades should be functional once we enable it, as always it is a nightly not production or even early release SW. Work is progressing but I don’t have a definite timeline yet. Watch this space!
Yup, understood. As I said, I’m experimenting around at this point, so that’s fine. By the time I finalize a setup, get off site backups working with the means at my disposal, etc. it’s likely going to be spring next year anway
Just trying to minimizing the number of times I need to reinstall things from scratch…
You can view the JIRA ticket above to see the tracking. They are still in process and we are getting closer to Goldeye 25.10. Probably working on that.
The good news is we expect to enable the nightlies for Halfmoon in the next couple of days. There are still some limitations being addressed that we will share; I will post a separate article on this topic, which will be linked here.
Are the powers that be aware that networking has been broken in 26.04 since the builds after 9/13? Examples: I can see but not access SMB shares, ssh says it has connected but I don’t get a prompt, and I can’t access the web interface.
Just to confirm you are on the latest nightly build? I ask as we have nightly tests running and I have a VM which is running the latest, which is not showing this issue.
Where’s the place to discuss the nightlies or report potential issues/bugs?
e.g. I have this situation where after each reboot all apps are “gone” and there’s some error.
Unsetting the pool and setting it again to what it was supposed to be, instantly brings them all back.
OK. There’s another issue, where I don’t know if I’m doing something wrong, or if there’s an issue:
Trying to create a VM, I end up getting this:
Error creating device
[EINVAL] attributes.path: The path must reside within a pool mount point
Somehow something in my configuration messed up networking after an update from the 9/15 nightly to any Trixie based nightly. I did a fresh install today of the latest nightly and imported my config file and still had various networking problems. After resetting the system back to defaults and re-entering all of my settings everything is working as expected.
