TrueNAS 25.04.2.1 is Now Available!

The TrueNAS team is pleased to release TrueNAS 25.04.2.1!

This is a minor maintenance release that includes several debug and audit optimizations to community features.

25.04.2.1 Notable Changes

  • Fixes an issue where upgrading from Electric Eel would break the Virtual Machines page for existing VMs without configured VNC passwords or VMs configured to use display device ports outside the standardized range of 5900-65535 (NAS-136941).
  • Prevents standby controller from updating nsswitch.conf with directory services to avoid blocking NSS lookups before the system is fully configured (NAS-136994).
  • Optimizes debug generation and audit features as part of this release.

See the 25.04.2.1 Release Notes for more details.

Nowhere to be found:

Is it SAFE to apply this patch-version if you already manually applied the middleware patch?

I can anecdotally say “yes” from my experience this morning.

I’d applied the middleware patch a couple of days ago, and the 25.04.2.1 update has applied & restarted with no issues. My VM’s are still visible.

The temperature data on the disk screen still cannot be displayed. Is there a specific solution time point?

Are you referring to this issue below? if not do you have a Jira ticket number?
https://ixsystems.atlassian.net/browse/NAS-136975

Hi!
The CPU usage and CPU temp went up after the upgrade! 2 cores out of my 16 are always at higher clock then before.
I downgraded to prev.version until this will be fixed.

Yes, this problem has persisted since the release of 25.04. I’ve lost count of how many similar tickets I’ve seen.

Did you raise a JIRA ticket and provide a debug so we have collateral to investigate?

The ticket has a fix version assigned, whilst this can change, watching the ticket is the best way to stay informed about the progress.

Thanks, I was about to do the same.

They probably simply overwrote the file in question and don’t even check the contents, but this should have been noted in the release notes to ensure people can be assured of results.

Disk temperature reporting is broken in 25.04.2.1. Reporting → Disks shows no values. temperature is 0 for all disks (both NVMEs and SATA HDDs).

25.04.2 seems to be fine, I booted into that version and the temps are back from that time point.

Edit: Related to https://ixsystems.atlassian.net/browse/NAS-136975 which is about “Storage > Disk Health”

Edit: I booted 25.04.2.1 and I couldn’t reproduce the issue again, so I will check back on it later. I will create a bug ticket regarding “Reporting → Disks” when I can reproduce the issue again.

Scroll up just a few posts, ABain (a TrueNAS employee), replied to another user bringing that issue up.

The issue you refer to is about “Storage > Disk Health”. Mine is about “Reporting > Disks”. Anyway, they are similar, but from my perspective it is a different entrypoint

Okay, maybe I was confused because you referred to the same JIRA Ticket.

If you have an issue the best thing to do is to raise a ticket, use the feedback link at the top of the page to file a bug and ensure you click to include the debug. Without collateral for your specific issue we cannot investigate. In the case of this disk temperature issue different users are experiencing it working or not working, in house systems are reporting temperatures, so we need information to be able to investigate.

Yes.

You essentially will install a fresh new copy of the middleware in a separate dataset.

Good to hear that the update went smoothly on your setup, especially with the mix of NVMe boot drives and large capacity HDDs. Did you happen to notice any changes in system resource usage or app startup times after moving to 25.04.2.1?

The users page that does not display normally; I have the message “Can not retrieve response”. Do you have the same thing ? Is there a solution available ?

Report a bug. Smiley face, top right
