I recently got a LSI SAS 9305-24i card and plan to use it in IT mode to replace two 8i cards on an existing TrueNAS Core installation to free up a PCI-e slot. I read here that I need to use FW 16.00.12.00 or later to avoid a particular bug. However I can’t seem to find where to download the firmware for this card anywhere!
I found a nice post with everything up to 16i, but no 24i firmware was included in the zip file. Broadcom has torpedoed their own support website and it’s difficult to navigate now. 9305-24i doesn’t even come up in search results. I also read here that TrueNAS Core will update my firmware for me if I reinstall, but the 9503-24i in particular has problems with the firmware version that is loaded on there and only reflashing with your own firmware version will fix it, so I can’t trust it.
Does anyone have a source of 9305-24i IT mode firmware 16.00.12.00 or newer?
I do not know of a P16 firmware newer than .12.
Throwing all keywords in my favourite search engine yields as second result a Reddit thread with a link to the Windows firmware package on Broadcom site. This package includes a .bin file that hopefully can be used by my most preferred UEFI tool sas3flash.efi.
I’d prefer to find the UEFI package directly from Broadcom, but the above trickery should do for now.
The engine appears to be excessively sensitive to the chosen search terms, and there’s no apparent logic in the order in which results are presented. But it can be found.
Thanks everyone! Through your replies here’s what I learned that brought me to the 16.00.12.00 firmware on the Broadcom website:
On the Broadcom website, you have to search in the general search at the top right corner of the screen instead of the search page that is presented to you when you click on Support and Services in the page header. Searching in this way gives you the real results. Searching using the Support and Services interface brings you nowhere useful. The search string P16 firmware 9305-24i UEFI as shown by @etorix gave me the correct results. The 16.00.12.00 firmware is from December 2020.
I would include a link to it but for some dumb reason I can’t post one even though everyone else can.
