I use TrueNas Core and I would like to backup all my NAS with Veeam backup and replication 12.
How can I proceed ?
Do I need to add my TrueNas like an “unstructured data source” ?
If so, what option should I choose in next window? File server, File share or NAS filer ?
Thanks for your help
Regards,
Thats a Veeam issue, not a TrueNAS issue.
But someone who uses Veeam may answer anyway
For information I am new user with TrueNas and fresh install on a physical server.
I set on Veeam a backup from Microsoft VSS snapshot but I have this error :
10/3/2025 6:51:32 PM :: Processing \NAS04\CIFS_TEST Error: Failed to add volume [\NAS04\CIFS_TEST] to the VSS snapshot set
The given shadow copy provider does not support shadow copying the specified volume.
–tr:Failed to add volumes to the snapshot set.
–tr:Failed to perform pre-backup tasks.
Is it possible to backup from VSS snapshot with my TrueNas ?
Thanks
Regards,
This may help, it may not
I contacted Veeam team for have more information and they said :
“Have you looked at how to enable VSS for SMB within TrueNAS? And made sure ZFS snapshot configurations are set up? Making sure you’ve done the prerequisites to see if it could work”
Could you please help me to know how doing this please ?
Thanks very much
Can you describe your plan for backing up from what to where and using which products? I can’t tell if you want to back up TrueNAS using Veeam Backup & Replication or use TrueNAS as a destination for backups from Veeam Backup & Replication having Windows as the source.
