Create backups for my Laptop OS drive

New to Truenas and finally got the basics setup.
I would like to make backups of a few of my main operating systems for a few different computers tied to truenas. What would be the best way of going about it?

IMHO there Is not an absolute “best” way to achieve this, it totally depends on use case.
Personally, i have deploy an Urbackup server on TN, to achieve fast and automatic backup of my entire main pc, pretty setup and forget.

Thanks. Is this just copying files or is this copying images of the hdd?

You can setup both ways, specific on each client

Veeam Agent for Windows, Linux and Mac is another option to look at.

Look at Free/Community tab

That’s my answer for Windows too. My Macs work fine with Time Machine, and my Linux systems are either VMs (and thus backed up using Proxmox Backup Server) or the Proxmox hosts themselves, which I back up using ZFS replication:

Any major differences between Veeam and Duplicati’s functionality-flows?

On Windows, at least, Veeam offers to make (and pretty strongly recommends you make) recovery media–boot from this USB, it will install the OS (including any necessary drivers), and then restore from backup. Last time I played with Duplicati (which has been a while), I don’t think it had this ability.
