Cannot copy files to an smb share from some sources but no problem from other sources

EDIT: fixed by succumbing to user/password secured mounting.

When I download a subtitle srt file from opensubtitles dot com it fails if I try to save it on an SMB share on my TrueNAS Core 13.something
Similarly I cannot move or copy a file from the local windows 11 disk to the SMB share.
However, Transmission running on W11 can always put torrent downloads on that same SMB share.

I had this happen a few times a few weeks ago and at that time I fixed it by disabling any signing requirements and allowing the W11 client to disregard any security requirements and allowing insecure login, using the Local Group Policy editor in the W11 machine.

And now, in the first week of february, the problem reappeared.

It originally started happening when the 24H upgrades to W11 started.
It then seems that each new “cumulative update” to 24H makes the problem reappear.

What is the Alexandrian cut to untie this knot this time???

P. S.
The error message is typical “Microsoft”:

“You need permission to perform this action”.

Exactly WHAT permission do I need???
